Rising Stars: Meet Ashlynn Simmons

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlynn Simmons.

Hi Ashlynn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started on the day after my 10th birthday. I had a DJ for my party and asked him to show me what everything does. And the rest is history. I’ve always been into music since I was a baby.

Always dancing and singing every lyric to every song. So now, I get to not only have a party whenever I want, I get to bring life to everyone’s party.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been smooth for the most part. The level of support I’ve received has been through the roof and I’m so grateful. My mom handles the business side of things, lol.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I selected Artist/Creative because I feel like being a DJ isn’t just about playing the music. It’s about feeling the vibe and having crowd control lol. Music can sometimes change your mood from being sad to being happy. Or feeling lazy to want to get up and move.

And I strive to make everyone get up and move and feel those happy feelings every single time. I’m most proud of myself for having this drive at such a young age and also for sticking with it. Being able to prove that I can be successful with DJing while still maintaining the principal’s list and honor roll, as well as still living the life of a kid.

What sets me apart is not only that I’m only 11, but also that I’m striving for nothing but greatness. I have a drive and I try not to show any fear. I want to learn any and everything there is to know about music and entertainment.

All while remaining humble and thinking positively.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like best the city’s music and food. I least like watching the news and the level of crime.
