Today we’d like to introduce you to Autumn Reign.
Hi Autumn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I decided in 2023 that I had a story to tell and would do everything I could to see it come to life. January 13, 2022, is the date that changed my life. On this day, my Mother passed. After her passing, I spiraled into a deep depression that I thought I wouldn’t be able to come out of. One day in December of 2022, I went on a soul-searching and identity journey to start feeling like myself again. This journey led me to write my newly released memoir, Time Will Tell: Mayhem In Memphis. Within my book, I speak of my upbringing during my childhood and the molestation that occurred with my stepfather. I also talk about my friendships, intimate relationships, and relationships with my family. After my Mom’s death, some questions needed answers because secrets started to be revealed themselves, and that is what caused me to go on a journey of self-identity. Time Will Tell: Mayhem in Memphis takes you on an emotional roller coaster that will consistently have you at the edge of your seats throughout the book!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey, for me, has been a challenging one. There is so much that goes into writing a book that one wouldn’t believe the things that would occur during the process. For me, being strictly focused on this project caused issues within my relationship as well as my finances. This all took a toll on me. At one point, I was about ready to call it quits. However, a burning fire within me pushed me toward the finish line of completion. A lot of time goes into a project of this magnitude. Therefore, my time was limited regarding everything outside this book, which played a major role in the stress I encountered.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a new author. I am still trying to figure out what that means to me. I’ve always been creative by crafting memorable keepsakes for those who needed something to remember their loved ones by. Whether on a stage or just being creative with my hands, I’ve always found solace during these times because it would usually take me away from my reality. So, I am most proud of finding an innovative way to face my traumas and shadows and serving myself on a silver platter. Having to be as transparent as I was in this book is a major accomplishment because I have always found it challenging to be open and completely honest with anyone. I was always worried about how others may think or feel. I’ve learned that making people feel slightly uncomfortable is okay. What better way to address learned behaviors that can be changed than to address the issues head-on? I am at an age now where I can no longer be silenced, so if I have something to say, it will be said, regardless of how anyone may feel.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was Saturday mornings with my Mom. She used to get up every Saturday morning and cook us scrambled eggs, bacon, and hotcakes. After eating, we would watch wrestling matches with Jerry the King Lawler, and the excitement we would share during this time would be priceless.
