Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Woodall.

Brittany Woodall

Hi Brittany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
When I was in cosmetology school I just knew hair was my passion and it was something I wanted to do. We were reviewing makeup and a guest came in and demonstrated makeup application. I was fascinated and I felt butterflies that’s when I knew makeup was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

From purchasing my first pallet to many nights of YouTube and practicing I promised myself I would’ve give up on this dream. I remember being homeless living in my car for 1yr and the only thing that kept me going was my makeup, and uploading YouTube videos every day. So here we are today I’ve put in the work and yes I’ve taken steps back but I have always pushed forward and never given up.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
If smooth was my route, I don’t think my heart would’ve been in it as much. So yes, absolutely, there have been struggles, the frustrations of seeing this talented makeup artist and comparing and crying. The many nights of wondering if I’ll ever reach their skill level and expertise.

Trying to achieve and cover all the skills and different categories, not realizing that with each year my skills were exceeding others at my stage. Then the doubters and everyone thought it was just a hobby when I knew in my soul this was my calling I just didn’t know how I would utilize my talent.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
When it comes to being a professional makeup artist, I specialize in it all I never wanted to limit myself or my knowledge. If I had to choose specifically I would say I specialize in recreation, I love how I can study a picture of art or another artist’s work and recreate it simply from memory.

That’s also what I’m known for and what sets me apart, my recreation and not being afraid to step outside of my comfort zone, I could be the nude one-look girl but colors and that shock factor are my go-to.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My family is 100%, they are my biggest support system, especially my mom and sisters. They were my test subjects when no one trusted or believed in me that I would grow to be this beast. My mom would give me her old makeup to use, and my sisters always were down for a slay even if it was simply using black eyeshadow.

Also, life lessons and God played a big role without them, I wouldn’t be as humbled and grateful for everything that has and will continue coming with this journey.
