Today we’d like to introduce you to Deidre Pryor.
Hi Deidre, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am Deidre Pryor the founder of The Hygiene Chic Nonprofit organization. I started this Nonprofit in 2019. I started by giving back on my birthday which lead me to see a great need in Memphis, TN, and surrounding areas.
Foster girls were transitioning into adults and weren’t properly educated on personal healthy hygiene and how to conduct themselves while being on their menstrual cycle. I always wanted to serve youth girls and I personally love all things hygiene.
I created a lane for youth girls to be themselves and feel comfortable with tackling this life skill. I’ve gotten this far by my unwavering faith, the support from family, friends, mentors, and the community.
I also consider myself a sponge always in learn mode to better serve our youth girls.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being in the nonprofit world can be challenging, it hasn’t been smooth but so worth it knowing I’ve served and been a part of youth girls’ journey by way of all things hygiene.
The biggest struggle along the way would be receiving funding for the many opportunities coming our way, and projects.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
All things hygiene have been a part of my life since I could remember. I absolutely love to clean and organize. It’s very therapeutic. I love “The Hygiene Chic Bag!” It’s unique and I stress in my business about every girl and woman having one. It’s definitely a survival packet.
I’m known for mastering healthy hygiene, if I could share I’ve had several youth girls and women compliment me on my hygiene. I always get called “Smelling like a walking dryer lol!” I am proud that I have accomplished teaching my 19-year-old about all things hygiene, and she reminds me of that, as well as shows her appreciation. I am a true believer it starts at home.
I am also proud that I have the honor of being a part of youth girls’ lives who don’t have the support. I am proud to be the one to prepare them for their menstrual cycle and ways to be clean/prepared. What sets me apart is knowing what fits me, knowing my lane, and not losing myself in the process.
I walk into every room confident and ready to IMPACT/ leave a lasting impression. My style sets me apart as well.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Definitely having integrity, understanding, goal-driven, faithful, passionate.
