Today we’d like to introduce you to Donatello Gray
Hi Donatello, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started writing at an early age but it wasn’t until I made it into fourth grade. That my teacher introduced me to poetry and she utilized it as an alternative to quench my unbridled anger issues. From that moment on I had begun to use poetry as a tool to display my emotions. Once I had made it to college it was my intro to literature professor that challenged me to begin the publishing process.. so with that before me I started the process of becoming a young author. In the spring of 2013 my first book was published “Phoenix Fire”. Excited to have completed the project for multiple reasons. I was then tasked with a troubling question. What kind of author are you and what are you trying to say.. well how does one college student answer that question when they themselves are still trying to figure out what they want to do in their life. I then began to wonder about the question before me and I then knew what my answer was and how I would utilize my writing to make a meaningful impact on literature and the world around me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A smooth ride sure! As well as riding through the back country roads on all flats with no spare in sight. The only real struggle I faced was literally myself. You’d think that being the writer you’d have no problem with the writing process. Well that’s a flat out story. The biggest issue is making sure that you’re writing something that your readers will enjoy and still have the world blasting impact on them and the community abroad. Now they’re more minuscule obstacles that one must face and overcome. Such as deadlines, editors, content controllers. Their all important tasks that ensure that you are in alignment with what your editing team and publishers want.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Poet/spoken word artist
Im proud of my dedication to producing a literary work that I believe in and that I feel is a part of the greater good in the things for which I believe in.
Well my standout attribute to me is I fell that I have a strong sense of satirical viewpoint on the subject matter in which I write about.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I don’t think I have many surprises left for the readers . But if I do say so I’d think that I am avid lover anime and political podcasts
