Rising Stars: Meet Eddie White

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie White.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Art was more of a subconscious thing when I was a young lad. Something I just gravitated towards. I didn’t know it could be something I did for a living. That didn’t hit me until I was 19 learning basic graphics in an illustration class.

The journey in between was a roller coaster ride filled with a lot of challenges and lessons. But at 19, one year after high school, The euphoric feeling of freedom swam over me while in that visual illustration class. I felt like a kid again building worlds and creating whatever my mind saw fit.

I fell in love. At that very moment, time stopped for me and I made the decision that art was going to be something I do for the rest of my life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? Not so much hahaha. Worth it? 1000%. On this road of self-discovery and purpose, I’ve been broke, slept in my car for a couple of weeks, starved, gotten countless “no’s” and “you should have a backup plan” etc.

I’ve felt every emotion imaginable with the decision I’ve made, but I wouldn’t change anything. I’ve sacrificed everything just to feel what art allows me to feel. To be free. To be of service to the world. What I do is bigger than me, the purpose of who I am goes far beyond personal gain.

And yeah, life throws challenges but for me, those challenges aren’t so severe with the right perspective.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a visual artist, all self-taught. My work is really colorful and bright (for the most part). I take words, colors, and objects and collage them together to tell a specific story.

I found my style in 2015 and painted the first painting of my style in 2017. I’m most proud of the energy my works receive. For me, it’s so fulfilling hearing someone tell me how much my work spoke to them or how much my work made them think, or how they’re still finding objects in my work years after they’ve purchased.

I’m so grateful to have something tangible that lives in the world. It’ll be here even after I transition. I think what sets me apart from others is my approach to inspiring the world through my works. Doesn’t matter how old you are, what ethnicity you are etc, I’m here to help bring joy and love to the world through my creativity.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Well right now NFTs are the big thing, which is cool because that’s how I started (Visual Communication). Life has a way of constantly recycling itself just in a newer form. And this is the age we’re in at the moment. I’m game lol
