Rising Stars: Meet Ibou Blade of Germantown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ibou Blade.

Hi Ibou, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey in the security industry began in 2008, working as a bouncer at several clubs in Memphis. Through those early experiences, I developed a strong foundation in safety, awareness, and conflict resolution.

In 2010, I advanced my career by becoming a corrections officer, a role I held for four years. During that time, I continued working as a security guard in clubs, gaining even more hands-on experience in different environments. These combined roles helped shape my discipline, leadership, and commitment to protecting others.

From 2014 to 2018, I worked full-time with a security company, continuing to grow professionally and build my reputation in the industry. In 2019, I made a life-changing decision to invest in myself and become independent by starting my own security company. Business was progressing well, and I was grateful for the opportunities coming my way.

However, on June 8, 2020, I faced one of the toughest challenges of my life. I became seriously ill, and my wife rushed me to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed me with COVID-19. My condition was critical—I had a temperature of 105 degrees, my body was extremely weak, and I had to be admitted for treatment, including fluids and pain management. After spending a week and a half in the hospital, I was discharged, but it took me an additional two weeks at home to fully recover.

Despite this difficult period, I remained faithful. On November 5, 2020, I secured one of my major contracts, and from that moment on, God continued to open doors for me and my business.

Today, I give all the glory and credit to God, because without Him, none of this would be possible. My journey is a testament to perseverance, faith, and the power of never giving up.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It wasn’t smooth road but GOD made away

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
