Rising Stars: Meet Jay Chanel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Chanel.

Hi Jay Chanel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started as a teen lol. I use to write so many raps in a notebook. At the time, I didn’t even have beats to go with any of these raps… I just use to come up with tunes in my head and write full songs based on the sound I put in my head.

I always knew I had a passion for music and entertainment. When I wrote these raps, I use to study them every day until I knew them hard just off memory. Now, here I am now 24 years old and taking music more seriously than I ever have.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success is never smooth. Being an independent artist and not having a team or that support is a struggle. You need a team in almost anything you do, you also need support. With that being said I still do this effortlessly between all the late nights and early mornings.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a songwriter and artist, of course, outside of that I have specialized in the beauty field as well, brow tint and lash extensions. I have also sold retail. I no longer pursue those things and I’m now just focusing on my music career, which is what I’m known for. I’m most proud of all the work and dedication I put into anything I desire to do.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I feel risk-taking is a part of life, taking risks isn’t always a bad thing and good results can come from taking risks. I’ve taken risks before and ended up in good positions.
