Today we’d like to introduce you to Keepushin Kp.
Hi Keepushin Kp, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been doing music for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Mississippi, I was surrounded by southern soul and blues, and that’s really where my love for music started. Over time I pulled inspiration from all kinds of sounds, but those roots gave me a foundation in storytelling and raw emotion.
I started recording seriously as a freshman in high school, when I connected with a guy through my godfather. Along the way, I’ve had ups and downs — working with people who didn’t always have the right intentions or experience — but every situation taught me something I could carry forward. Eventually, I made my way to Atlanta to chase my music dreams. While grinding at open mic nights, I went through a major setback when I was shot after a performance. Once I healed, I put that experience into my art. I started posting on social media again, and one of my freestyles about the incident went viral, opening new doors.
Since then, I’ve had people come and go in the process of building a team, but one thing that’s never changed is my drive. I always keep pushing. Right now, I’m focused on building up my content, staying consistent, and giving people music that reflects my journey and connects with them on a real level.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve had to deal with a lot — from having a manager who struggled with drinking, to people in the industry trying to cross boundaries, to being scammed. Those experiences forced me to cut ties and really learn how to protect myself and my vision.
On top of that, staying motivated can be tough. This industry can feel like one minute you’re so close, and the next minute it feels far away. It’s also hard not to compare yourself to others, especially with the type of music that often gets pushed by the industry. But through all of that, I remind myself why I started, and I live by my name — I “KeePushin.”
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an artist first and foremost — I rap, but I also sing. What I’m most proud of is the growth I’ve made over the years and the fact that I never gave up, even when the road wasn’t easy. I’ve really invested in myself, not just as an artist but as a creator overall. I’ve taken the time to learn the ins and outs of making beats, shooting visuals, and editing my own videos so I can be more self-reliant and fully in control of my vision.
What sets me apart is the content of my music. I don’t just follow the same topics that a lot of artists lean on — I make real, relatable music drawn from life experiences. At the same time, I deliver it in a way that still hits hard, so you can feel it whether you’re riding in the car, dancing, or hearing it in the club. I’m proud that my music balances substance with energy, and that it reflects who I really am.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was pretty shy and kept to myself, and in a lot of ways I still am. But once people got to know me, they saw a different side — I was goofy, outspoken at times, and honestly a little hardheaded. That mix sometimes made people think I was mean before they really understood me.
I was also a thrill-seeker, always curious and wanting to push boundaries. As a kid, I actually wanted to play football — which people thought was kind of wild for a girl at the time. I was also drawn to music early on and had the desire to learn how to play instruments, which really laid the foundation for where I am today.
