Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Jones
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started modeling in family fashion shows around the age of 8. I’m pretty sure I was hooked since. I stopped for a number of years to focus on school and raising my daughter. Mid 2021 I started back up just to see of I could and I haven’t looked back. I decided to take myself seriously, let go of fear, and take control. I’m excited about my journey and I can’t wait to see what’s in store
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely far from smooth. I held myself back for a while because I thought I missed my chance. I was thinking is mid 20s too old to start this journey? I struggled a lot with also trying to be a present mother while trying to chase my dream. It’s still hard finding the perfect balance but I have a wonderful support system and mentors. They always say if it’s easy it’s not really worth it and I’m embracing that.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do have a day job which helps me when I need time off and weekends free for auditions and model calls.
I don’t think I’m known for much but I’m hoping that’ll change (fingers crossed) I’m working towards getting my manicurist license so I can have my own business.
I’m proud of being a mom first and everything else after. I’m proud to give my daughter someone positive to look up to. She wants to be like me and I don’t want to let her down.
I feel my work ethic, my dedication, and my willingness to learn sets me apart from others. I like to call myself a forever student because I love to learn new things or have new experiences.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Introverted most definitely. I would copy dance routines and sing to the top of my lungs when I was alone. My momma didn’t let that last too long. That’s where the fashion shows came in. By high school I was still quiet but got popular by association. That pushed me further out of my shell and the rest is history. My interest never changed much sleeping, dancing, eating, & reading are my tops. I love a good nap.
