Rising Stars: Meet Terrence Carr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrence Carr.

Hi Terrence, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve never really thought about my “story” but here goes nothing. I was sitting down at my desk one-night playing video games. I was talking with a friend that I have been wanting to get into podcasting. My wife had just bought me a brand new laptop.

So I got the thinking and research on the laptop about podcasts and the setups. Well, one thing led to another and I found myself purchasing some mics, an interface, and some software on the laptop and just hit record. My first podcast episode launched in January 2021 with its old show name “From The People”.

My best friend and I began to upload weekly for about 6 months. It was a great time, things started out great. As we all know great things sometimes don’t last very long. We hit a rough patch with it. So we decided I do the podcast stuff solo and just have guests come on every week and we talk about rare emotions and lifestyles of the guest that come on.

I then switched the name from “From The People” to “No Edit Podcast”. I picked this name because I hate editing episodes and I don’t care for podcasts that sound scripted. Our lives are not edited so why should my podcast be when I’m talking to people about their lives.

Here I am in mid-2022 still going strong, growing, and branching out the podcast. I’ve got over 10,000 downloads, I’m on all streaming platforms, and I’ve talked with high school friends, drug addicts, millionaires, and even published models.

This story of mine isn’t the greatest story one might hear or read, but it’s the greatest story that I am getting to write for myself.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t see any story as a smooth ride unless it’s been handed down to you already paved out.

There’s been nights, days, and even weeks where I thought about hanging it up. I’ve thought plenty of times that what I’m doing doesn’t matter. For instance, I’ve had a couple of back-to-back episodes that only had 20 or so downloads.

That really hurts when I’ve spent a good bit of money and time on creating those episodes. So for them to do that poorly hurt me a lot.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I dabble in quite a few things. From podcast host, and event MC, to modeling. With those come a lot of time and practice to become good. I would never say I’m perfect or the best at what I do, but I will say I’m pretty good at it. Out of those I really enjoy doing all of them the most.

Podcast host, I get to talk and talk with some amazing people and hear about their life stories. When I’m an MC, I get to be hype and make other people come alive and smile. When I’m in front of a camera my inner spirit comes alive, I can be serious, emotional, and funny all within a few clicks of a shutter.

I will say, people really know me because of my outlandish photo shoots. I’ve done cookie and milk photo shoots, white claw photo shoots, Yoo-hoo in a bathtub shoots, oh and I can’t forget I’ve done a Trix cereal photoshoot inside a bathtub. That was a fun one!! The biggest things that set me apart from everyone else.

I do not afford to humiliate myself to bring smiles to others. I’m not against showing it all to prove to others that you too can be confident in your body. I’m a hefty dude standing 5’9 255lbs. I’ve got tattoos all over and colorful hair. I’m the guy that’s here to make sure everyone that sees me or meets me, leaves my presence with a smile.

What makes you happy?
Simple, making others happy and making others smile. My goal for the day, every day is to make at least one person smile. If I do that, my job for the day is complete.

I’ve always been the type to entertain somehow. Either with jokes, acting out, or just having colorful hair or clothes.
