Rising Stars: Meet Terriah “Cocoa” Carver of Memphis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terriah “Cocoa” Carver

Hi Terriah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Terriah Carver (Cocoa Carver). I was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, and I’ve always been proud to call this city home.

I’m a wife of over seven years to my amazing husband, Clarence and a first-time mom to my sweet baby boy, Cairo. Currently, I serve in a leadership role at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s Office of Legal Services, where I contribute to supporting the hospital’s incredible mission. In addition to my work, I’m also a lifestyle influencer on social media, pursuing my passion for connecting with others and sharing meaningful stories.

My journey as a lifestyle influencer started with my love for fashion and travel. I’ve always enjoyed sharing my style and exploring new places, and Instagram became a space where I could connect with others who had the same interests. My background in contracts and business gave me the confidence to navigate the influencer world, handling partnerships and brand deals with a strategic approach.

When I became pregnant, my content shifted naturally. I wanted to share what I was going through with other moms-to-be, from the exciting milestones to the challenges of preparing for motherhood. Once Cairo was born, I started creating baby-focused content. Becoming a mom changed everything, and sharing those moments with my son became my way of connecting with other parents and moms.

Postpartum depression was something I wanted to avoid and creating content helped me steer away from it. Documenting my journey, sharing Cairo’s milestones, funny moments, and engaging with other moms gave me a creative outlet and a sense of community.

I’m proud to be a “Momfluencer” for the Memphis Moms, which is the Mid-South’s premiere parenting resource. I love being a Memphis influencer and representing the city I grew up in. Whether I’m creating content about lifestyle, motherhood, fashion, baby gear, travel or local family-friendly spots, my goal is always to connect, inspire, and keep it real.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Balancing everything hasn’t always been easy. Juggling being a wife and mom, my professional life, and maintaining my presence as a lifestyle influencer has come with its fair share of challenges.

There have been days when it felt impossible to give 100% to everything. Work deadlines, sleepless nights with a newborn, and the constant pressure of creating content that resonates can be overwhelming. Some weeks, I’ve had to make hard choices about where my time and energy go—learning that it’s okay to let one thing take a backseat when another needs my full attention.

Motherhood especially has added layers of complexity. Adjusting to life with a baby while returning to work meant redefining my priorities and rethinking what balance even looks like.

Even now, I’m still figuring it out. There are obstacles, like finding time for myself and not letting the pressure to “do it all” take away from the joy of the journey. But I’ve learned to give myself grace and focus on progress, not perfection.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a lifestyle influencer I am known for my authenticity and versatility. I’ve built a strong presence by blending motherhood, fashion, and real-life experiences. My content resonates with followers because it’s relatable, inspiring, and true to who I am.

What I’m most proud of is my baby boy, Cairo, of course! Watching him grow is the highlight of each day. Also, he is teaching me how to be a mother. I love how he has inspired me to create a space where mothers can find encouragement, connection, and joy. Navigating motherhood has been transformative, and sharing this journey has allowed me to turn moments of vulnerability into something meaningful for others.

What sets me apart is my ability to blend authenticity and expertise. I use my contract and business knowledge to navigate the world of influencing while staying deeply connected to my audience. I offer a genuine look into my life, empowering moms to embrace every part of their motherhood journey with confidence and grace.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Memphis is the soul of the city, it’s literally in everything we do. The food is a huge part of that. Memphis has a rich culture and history, and you can feel it in the music, the art, and the way the community comes together.

What I like least about Memphis is the violence and safety concerns. It affects how we live, how we move through our neighborhoods, and sometimes how people view our city from the outside. I believe in Memphis and its resilience, but there’s definitely work to be done to make it a safer place for everyone.
