Today we’d like to introduce you to Zecharia Michael.
Hi Zecharia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been into fashion for as long as I can remember. I posted pictures of my various outfits in 2016 because it was fun. I was fortunate to turn my “Fit pics” into something more! I shot a few pictures that gained the liking of brands such as H&M or Dr. Martens. The recognition from those publishings went a long way! I also went to different creative meet-ups throughout the city. I met many beautiful people there, and so many connections are still alive today. Photographers and other models would attend these events; I would speak to everyone, and one thing leads to another. Naturally, networking got me started with my modeling if I were to sum it up in a single sentence.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The rewarding moments would feel different if it was a smooth road. I was made fun of when I first got into fashion & modeling. I was raised in a more minor part of the Mid-South, Millington, TN, to be exact. There were few people with the same interests, so I was outcasted. When I would tell people that I would be a model, often that would be followed with a laugh or two. When you think of a male model, I may not be what first comes to mind, but I love that about myself. I don’t have striking blue eyes, no blonde hair, and I’m not 6’2, but I am unapologetically me. I’ve learned to love myself & all the “flaws” that come with me. My story one day can inspire thousands of others not to be afraid to take that next step in chasing their dreams.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a male model known for my versatility in the different photoshoots I’ve participated in. I’m most proud of myself for overcoming obstacles such as losing motivation, doubting myself, others doubting me, and life turning when I least expect it! What sets me apart from others is having a look and personality you don’t always see in your average male model. It’s unique and not fabricated.
Do you have any big plans?
My plans for the future are to work a lot more in different cities, such as Atlanta, Nashville, Los Angeles, and New York City. There’s so much talent and beautiful connections to be made in these places, and I can’t wait.
