Story & Lesson Highlights with Denecia Miller of Olive Branch, Mississippi

Denecia Miller shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Denecia, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I believe a lot of people secretly struggle with seeking validation from others. Of course, most of us want to be liked and accepted by our peers, but sometimes people take it further by changing their entire persona just to fit in with those they’re trying to impress.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello everyone, my name is Denecia, and I’m the owner and operator of D’Luxe Beauty Studio in Olive Branch, Mississippi. I’m a licensed cosmetologist in multiple states, specializing in makeup applications, brow laminations, and tinting services. What makes my brand unique is that it’s authentically me—from the hand-painted magnolias on the studio walls to the smooth R&B that’s always playing in the background. But above all, the most special part is the signature D’Luxe Experience you’ll enjoy from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I would definitely say the person who sees me most clearly is my mom. That beautiful woman has been my cheerleader from day one—encouraging me to keep going, striving for the best, being my shoulder to cry on during difficult times, and lovingly correcting me whenever I drifted off my path.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one thing to my younger self, it would be: you are far more talented than you realize, so never stop perfecting your craft.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
I believe 80% of what I show the public is the real me, while the remaining 20% is sacred—shared only with those I truly love and trust.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m relaxing with my family or immersed in a good book, especially by a poolside or on someone’s island.
