The Most Inspiring Stories in Memphis

The heart of our mission is to find the amazing souls that breathe life into our communities. In the recent weeks, we’ve had the privilege to connect with some incredible artists, creatives, entrepreneurs and rabble rousers and we can’t begin to express how impressed we are with the incredible group below.

With research, prayer, and wise counsel, we purchased our first two investment properties in Bartlett and Jackson, Tennessee. Shortly after, Rose Restorations & Development, LLC was born, and I obtained my contractor’s license. As a husband-and-wife team, we’ve poured our hearts into this work. Through our own renovation experiences, the highs and the lows, we discovered a passion for revitalizing communities—transforming neglected houses into beautiful, safe homes with that signature Rose Restorations touch. Today, we’re proud to be building not only a business, but a legacy—founded on faith. Read more>>

It hasn’t been smooth. Pilates is HARD and it really takes developing the discipline and desire to show up for yourself. Trainings are intense and it takes time. You’re always learning in Pilates. I feel like I’m always signing up for another training but that’s what I love about it. I love learning more to give more. Mentally it challenged me to make a complete lifestyle change. I started to learn so much about myself. I stopped drinking alcohol completely. My daily routine was altered. It caused the best shift to happen in my life. It sort of reshaped me from the inside out and the reshaping was not at all comfortable but so worth it. Read more>>

At 14, my life changed when my father was in a tragic car accident on Valentine’s Day. For months I watched him fight for his life in the hospital before he passed away. As the youngest of three boys, that loss cut deep. My mother, who had worked for the Department of Correction until a disability forced her to retire, carried a heavy burden, and I felt the responsibility to step up. Even as a teenager, I wanted to be her strength and not a burden, so I poured myself into school, leadership, and every opportunity I could find. Read more>>

BES trains professionals to open and run high-performing college preparatory charter schools in underserved communities. I completed the Fellowship from 2007-2008 and opened the first Freedom Prep school with 100 6th graders in the Westwood neighborhood. Freedom Prep’s mission is to prepare all students to excel in college and in life. Freedom Prep has grown to now five schools in Memphis serving nearly 2,000 students in K-12(2 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 1 high school). To continue the path of the civil rights movement and transforming education across the South, Freedom Prep opened our first school in Birmingham, AL. Read more>>

Around that time, a friend of mine encouraged me to look into digital marketing. After several interviews with a national marketing company, I decided to take the leap. It wasn’t easy at first, but I quickly fell in love with the industry. I enjoyed putting together the “puzzle” of marketing for business owners who often knew very little about it. It gave me a sense of purpose, and I discovered a true passion for helping businesses grow. Read more>>

Power Media Solutions was born out of my journey as a nonprofit executive director many years ago. During that time, I discovered a deep passion for building relationships and fostering meaningful collaborations. As my work evolved, I felt a natural pull toward public relations and marketing, where I could bring those connections to life on a larger scale. Read more>>

As the work grew, so did the vision. I realized that while The New Face of MS® focuses on awareness, community, and positivity, there was also a pressing need for direct support. That’s how the Disabled Dreamers Network was born. An advocacy initiative under our nonprofit that provides financial assistance to individuals living with disabilities. Whether it’s helping with daily essentials or supporting someone’s dream, our goal is to empower, uplift, and remind people that disability does not erase ambition…it FUELS it! Read more>>

Mo’s Comfort Kitchen actually started as a small meal prep service for nurses, but over time, my passion for baking took center stage. What began as baking for family, friends, and coworkers slowly grew into a cottage bakery based right here in Bartlett, Tennessee. Now I get to share my Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies, Strawberry Crunch Bundt Cakes, mini cakes, and so much more with my community. Read more>>
