Check Out Ashanti Blair’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashanti Blair.

Hi Ashanti, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Throughout my youth, I had always been the one who’d have a quick snap disposable camera, snapping the most random of things. Being a quiet, shy and observant young girl, the camera was at times my shield from having to engage with peers around me. Besides social therapy, I had been inspired by the totes of family albums full of photos from times I had no recollection of or moments that had long transpired and were brought back to life at a single glance. Photography became essential.

In 2014, I’d gotten my first DSLR with no idea how to fully use it and taught myself the basics (finding out extremely fast about how important light was). Photography quickly went from a small hobby, taking pictures of grass and whatever random objects around the house to servicing clients all over the City of Memphis and places out of state for those in awe of my work.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Photography has been one of the most demanding things in my life. The frustration and anxiety of, “What if they don’t like it?” had always been the crux of my career. I would go on hiatuses for months (almost a year) at a time, focusing more on other life and mental health issues.

It was only when I realized that the only validation I needed was my own that I had begun to blossom in my craft. It propelled me out of my comfort zone to blast through the struggles.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a photographer/content creator, known for a few skits and beautiful stills of people, places, and things. Cosplay photography has made me the proudest because it is such a rare field of focus.

We all have our differences and I believe what sets me apart from others is my attention to detail and the engagement that I share with those in front of my lens.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Share. Share. Share. I believe the exposure will come only once people know I’m here. I can be reached on all social media platforms and by email.
