Hi Juan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My brothers and I founded Apex Foundation Experts with a shared vision and a lot of determination. Growing up in a hardworking Hispanic family, we learned early on the value of dedication and resilience. Watching our parents work tirelessly to provide for us and raise four brothers taught us not only the importance of hard work but also the deep value of family, integrity, and good virtue. Those lessons became the foundation of everything we do.
We started small—just the three of us, a truck, and a dream to create something meaningful for our community. We’ve always believed that a solid foundation, both literally and figuratively, is what holds everything together, and that philosophy became the cornerstone of our business.
In the early days, we wore all the hats: sales, labor, admin—you name it. It was tough, and there were moments of doubt, but our bond as brothers kept us moving forward. Our parents instilled in us that when you lean on family and stick to your values, you can overcome anything.
What we’re most proud of is how those values have guided us through every step. Whether it’s being transparent with pricing, restoring a foundation, or offering long-term warranties to give customers peace of mind, we’ve made it a priority to treat everyone like family.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s part of what makes the journey so meaningful. When we started Apex Foundation Experts, we didn’t have all the answers—just a dream, a lot of determination, and a willingness to learn. We’ve faced our share of challenges, but each one has shaped us into who we are today.
One of the biggest struggles has been building trust and establishing a name for ourselves in such a competitive industry. As a small, family-owned business, we knew we were up against bigger companies with more resources and brand recognition. But instead of seeing that as a disadvantage, we leaned into what made us different: our family values, our attention to detail, and our genuine care for every customer.
Another challenge has been navigating the uncertainties that come with running a business—especially in the beginning. Whether it was managing tight budgets, balancing our personal lives with the demands of the job, or just figuring out how to market ourselves, there were plenty of sleepless nights. But those struggles taught us resilience and pushed us to grow.
We’ve also faced moments of doubt, like when a job didn’t go as planned or when the workload felt overwhelming. But during those tough times, we always reminded ourselves why we started this business in the first place: to help people and to create something we could be proud of as a family.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest piece of advice for anyone just starting out is to believe in yourself and your vision, even when things get tough. There will be challenges—more than you might expect—but don’t let them discourage you. Every setback is an opportunity to learn, grow, and get stronger.
One thing I wish I had known when we were starting out is just how important it is to focus on building relationships, not just a business. Whether it’s with your customers, your team, or your community, the connections you make will carry you further than any single project or paycheck. People value authenticity and trust, so always lead with integrity and treat others the way you’d want to be treated.
Another piece of advice is to embrace the process. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and that’s okay. It’s easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to others or wanting everything to happen quickly, but good things take time. Be patient with yourself and your journey. Celebrate the small wins because they’ll eventually add up to something big.
Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help or admit what you don’t know. When we first started, we had to learn a lot on the fly—everything from marketing to accounting to managing a team. Looking back, I realize how valuable it would have been to lean on mentors or other small business owners for advice and guidance. There’s no shame in not having all the answers, and seeking support can save you so much time and stress.
Most importantly, stay true to your values. For us, those are family, integrity, and hard work. Your values will be your compass when things get overwhelming or uncertain, and they’ll help you make decisions that you can be proud of.
On a personal note, being on this journey with my brothers has been the most rewarding experience ever. Building something together, leaning on each other, and celebrating our wins as a family is something I’ll cherish forever.
