Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Mccurrie.
Hi Natasha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
So where do I start? Hi, my name is Natasha Danielle. I am the owner of Dreams Beauty Bar and Boutique, located off Millbranch Rd. in the Whitehaven area. Where we specialize in all things beauty and relaxation. “It’s the You for Me.” I am from a small town “in the country” of Independence, MS. I have always been a girly girl. I also liked to dress up, do makeup, and do my hair. But life hit me, and I became a teen mom at the age of 17. I got married at 18 and had 3 beautiful babies from that marriage. So now I had a family to help support me, so I kept a “passing by” job. Not really tapping into what I really wanted to do with my life. Then I hit my 30s and still feel unfulfilled. Having watched my mother work at a warehouse for 20 years, I watched her have both of her knees replaced from standing on concrete for so many years. And I now worked at the same warehouse. And I hated it. I was overworked, I worked the 3rd shift, so I was away from my kids. One day I was talking to my OG (Aunt Nita), and she was like why you don’t do that waxing stuff all you young folks do now. I was like Auntie I am not trying to look at “pocketbooks” no more (I was previously a Medical Assistant at an OBGYN office for 10 years). As days began to pass, I could not get our conversation out of my head. So, I started researching wax and waxing, I started to get fascinated by the beauty industry. There were so many opportunities for lash tech, MUA, massage, estheticians so much more. So, it was like a light bulb finally went off in my head (laughs).
I started googling schools in the area. So that was the start of my journey. Once I started school, I felt like I was in heaven. I loved it. I started networking with people in the industry. I met influential people like Six Figure Spa Chick (Candice Holyfield from Memphis, TN) and Jenni Graham. I got excited about being in the industry. I had decided that I wanted to start my own brand, my own legacy. And that’s exactly what I did. My daughter came up with the name, She said mom this is your dream, so we are going to call it Dreams Beauty Bar and Boutique. As I began to grow my business, I started to set the standard of why I was doing it. I wanted everyone to be able to enjoy an environment where they could enjoy luxurious spa treatments and not have to break the bank. I wanted to host community events where I could educate my community on certain things like preventative care, self-care, and support group for mental health issues. I hosted my first event (Last October for breast cancer awareness) I loved it I introduced my business, and my products, and provided information about preventative care. For the first time in my 35 years of living, I felt fulfilled. So now it is on like popcorn (laughing). I knew the sky was the limit, I had so many ideas for my business. I wanted it all. I offer everything in my business with top-of-the-line customer service. I realized this from other interactions with other businesses. Customer service will make you or break you. For me it’s not all about the money, I genuinely love seeing my clients happy, feeling confident, and relaxed. I offer everything from customized facials, waxing services, body wraps/scrubs, eyebrow tinting, deep tissue massages, cupping, foot detoxification, and so much more, all in an intimate relaxing environment.
I also host spa parties and mobile services. I offer services for men and women, young and Seasoned. I also have skin care products available for retail. So be on the lookout for more to come from Dreams Beauty Bar and Boutique. We are hosting a New Year’s Day Vision Board Party and my eBook will be available on January 1st (My 300 Workbook-Manifesting the Life you want).
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Ohh no, it has been challenge after challenge since I first opened. From gaining clientele, finances, marketing, and location. You name it I have been through it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I offer beauty services. I offer services such as customized facials, massages, waxing services, beard treatments, and pretty much everything in the beauty industry. I am known for my messages. My massages are a little different from most massages. I am really big on energy and intimacy.
My clients receive customized massages. We cater to your energy and your vibe with customized music, therapeutic masks, and everything, you really should come to catch a vibe with us(smiling). A lot of the time most businesses focus on just getting the sale (Money) and we like that too, but the client’s needs are the most important to us. From luxurious robes to aromatherapy, I promise you it’s a whole vibe and intimate. it’s so hard to explain until you actually try it.
What do you think about luck?
A major role. I have tossed and turned with good luck and bad luck but no matter what I stayed faithful. I knew God gave me this vision for a reason. And that finally, I found my purpose.
