Today we’d like to introduce you to Grayson Brandt
Hi Grayson, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Grayson Brandt, I’m 18 and I am a professional videographer. Growing up I always had a very creative distinct side to my personality. I always saw this in my actions through my childhood, but I never knew that it had a deeper meaning. At the start of high school I started to develop an interest into media and that’s really where my story begins. I started by just volunteering at my school and Church then by my junior year, I was offered my first job saved up for my first camera, and I was off to the races. Since then, I now work as a communications intern for ACS community schools and I also do freelance videography for weddings, small business, and athletes.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, as a teenager in high school I feel like adults that are older than me have taken advantage of me and the quality of my work. At the start, I was turning over very quality projects for very little money. The gear required to produce projects is also very expensive and not something that’s very easy to obtain as a high school student. Connections is also another struggle I have had along this journey. Finding connections is very hard and connections means everything, I have found that all of my business is through connections and as a young high school student, it’s very hard to make those.

I’m a professional videographer that focuses on bringing the cinematic aspect to areas you wouldn’t necessarily expect. As I have produced all kinds of videos, anywhere from promo to weddings, my heart is very much with sports. I love capturing sports and bringing the emotion to the screen through cinematic shock, composition and through editing.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up my parents always have told me that I had that creative personality since the day I was born. My parents always told me stories about how I used to set up monster truck shows in my bedroom or put on light shows by hanging flashlights from my fan. There’s no coincidence that where I am today is not sparked from my characteristics as a child.
