Today we’d like to introduce you to Rey Alpizar
Hi Rey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Started as a Tour Guide in Costa Rica where I am from,Coming from a low income family I had to Learn English pretty much by myself using a dictionary and listening to music in English when I was 13. then on 2013 decided to buy a camera using almost my month salary as a tour guide wanted to use the camera to take pictures of things and animals I used to see on my tours, eventually decided to use that camera to generate some extra money by taking pictures of friends and family and charging them for it. little by little my “photo business” took over my tour guiding job, in 2014 I got my 1st International assignment A company from USA flew me to Barcelona Spain to shoot their event! and thats how everything got bigger! since then I have visited over 18 different countries and more than 37 luxury destinations to shoot luxury corporate events, from a chocolate room at the four seasons Milan to the white sand paradise beaches of Bahamas I have seen it all and enjoy my work more and more everyday! nowadays I do equality photo and video not only for corporate events but also for weddings, commercial videos , product photography and portraits! , moved to USA in 2023 with my wife and since then I live in Jonesboro AR but keep traveling all over for work!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest struggle its been not getting to see my mom, Dad and Brother as often as we used to do, in Latin America we are very family oriented and dedicate lots of time to our parents, with my demanding schedule and constant travel I have to take the extra mile to go see my parents in Costa Rica and dedicate time to my wife here in the USA as well. also coming from a low income family in Central America for me to buy every piece of equipment represented a sacrifice and a lip of faith, takin g every single opportunity I was given I took on challenges to shoot at places and conditions that I had never before, editing an entire video in a hour to present it in front of 400 executives at a premium event and succeeding its been the type of challenges that are always part of my life and business
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Ra Lux Media is the name I gave to my production company, and even though we do all kinds of photo and video we mainly focus on shooting corporate events where we provide a professional photo and video package and we are also big on real estate photo and video having shot over 500 luxury homes within the last 4 years and helped sold over $2B in Real Estate for our realtor clients. we are known for providing a high end product and service to our clients rather they are a big corporation or a small business owner, we deliver quick and high end. travel everywhere to any country and always with the ideology of making our client’s vision our vision to achieve the results they want and need!
How do you think about happiness?
Creating! seeing the reaction of my clients when they see the photos or videos we make for them its like a rush of adrenaline that gives a sense to all we do in our business! also helping others, we have invested time in helping new photographers and videographers that come to us ,to learn and grow in their own carriers . so me of them stayed and became part of RA Lux Media
