Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Flanery
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. After graduating St. Agnes I headed to Mississippi State University to play volleyball! One summer I returned home to work at a spa for a fun job and was hooked! I have been working in this industry ever since and that was 14 years ago.
I worked the front desk management for 5 years and then moved to the aesthetician role! I was quickly managing the aesthetic department shortly after that dreaming of my own medical spa one day. I was blessed enough with amazing mentors placed in my life, people that believed in me, and God provided invisible strings to some of the most talented providers to join the team! I am blessed enough to be inspired by my mother who owns her own company: Rehab etc and my sister who owns Shelby Dental! You could say we have very independent strong women raised in our household!
1 year ago that dream came true and I would love to say I couldn’t believe it but it took me 14 years to get here and work from the bottom up to get to this place in my career. I would not of traded one chapter in this book because everything taught me so much! I am so thankful that this team came together so easily and seamlessly and made my dream a reality called Skin Studio!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was absolutely not a smooth road. I was on track.. to finish college majoring in business playing volleyball at a D1 school..I worked so hard for so long to make that dream happen but what I realized is sometimes that dream is training you for something you didn’t even think of achieving! Getting something that was suppose to just be a summer job that turned into a life long career is not something I was prepared for! This journey has been lots of things but fulfilling is the number one adjective that comes to mind. I have working 10 hour days, 6 days a week, free events, lots of after hour treatments to master the craft. Guess what? I am still learning. It is such an ever-changing industry you can’t possibly know everything and I love that! My favorite thing? that it is so much deeper than just an aesthetic treatment! We are people’s safe space, employees and clients, and you can feel that walking into Skin Studio. Everyone on our team is doing it for the right reasons and that is to help someone feel beautiful in their skin!
I think I constantly strived to be the best at whatever dream was on my heart and once I became a mother and realized I could not physically or mentally master all the things in my life I realized that just giving my best every day was more than enough. I also realized that if I can help others come to that realization I would love to. Enter Skin Studio where my wildest dreams have come true! What I have learned is to surround yourself with the right people and God works magic! they have guided me just as much as I have guided the team!
As you know, we’re big fans of Skin Studio . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Skin Studio is a new medical spa in Germantown, TN. With a little over a year since opening date we have quickly risen to the top to many accounts we carry including: botox, juvederm, skinpen microneedling, and skin better! We received nominations for best medical spa in Memphis and top place to be injected in our first year! Our staff combined has over 20 years in experience in the industry quickly becoming a team of experts. We have a reputation for enhancing people’s beauty not changing in and that is something I am very proud of! We excel in product knowledge, our injectors have magical technique, our aestheticians killing the relaxation game mixed perfectly with results and our front desk bringing a smile to everyone that walks through the doors! I have purposely surrounded myself with people smarter than me, better than me, and people that challenge me to be better everyday! We are a team that makes it feel like family! We are so thankful to all the clients that have trusted us and continue to with their skin!
