Today we’d like to introduce you to Chayla Ward
Hi Chayla , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As a young adult-in my undergrad years and early 20’s, my friends and I were always big on celebrating birthdays, holidays and other moments “just because.” We were in the journey of building our careers so I’ll say we’re were the fancy frugal type lol, but we loved a good time. To be as cost efficient as possible while getting what we wanted out of the celebrations, we all sort of had a task or something that was ours to “own.” We all loved food and desserts didn’t take a back seat so at some point I was given the cake or party treats for the event. Social media was growing back then and the Strawberry Crunch cake was becoming a thing, so they pressured me to make it lol. I resisted for a very long time but I eventually gave in lol. Once that first cake and cheesecake was a success to me, my ideas of what I could do with Cheesecake just blossomed. Pinterest kind of became my place to find ideas to try with my own twist. So since about 2017/2018, I’ve been building a brand built around being creative while making amazing cheesecake based deserts, cakes, cookies and other treats in between. It became an outlet for me to my career in Mental Health.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I can say it’s been smooth because I continue to enjoy making desserts for people but it has not always been easy to grow my business. Coming up with ideas of what I want to make has been easy but getting my name and brand out is not always been easy. Business fluctuates but I try to remain consistent in pushing myself and getting my name out there. The struggle is just making my name and brand a staple in the minds of people when they think of homemade desserts.

We are a homemade dessert business that is known for and specializes in cheesecake based desserts. We also make other cakes, cookies and pies that do not have a cheesecake base. We ship our cookies all over.
What sets me apart is my presentation and creativity of some of my flavors and items. We make the flavors you can’t find in a store.
We’re open for orders and event bookings daily in the local Memphis area and surrounding areas.
What are your plans for the future?
My plan for the future is to continue creating desserts and growing my business and brand. My ultimate goal is to have a store front with a twist on store hours and a nice vibe. I don’t want to give to many details on how I’d like that to look but it would be something that I have not seen in Memphis, yet.
