Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Colbert.
Hi Jason, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am an Oil Painter that is inspired by childhood innocence and vibrant colors.
My work is more than painting what I see; rather, I paint what I hope to see. My mission is to bring out the viewer’s inner child through my technique of colorism- an art style in which vibrant paint pigments are intertwined with deep life ideals. Life in Colors Studio was founded in 2018 after my extensive training at Memphis College of Art.
It now stands on the famous words by Denzel Washington who said, “Without commitment, you will never start, without consistency, you will never finish.” I am now committed to transforming the way we view the world and will be consistent in living life full of colors.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting out, it was everything but a smooth road. Before my business changed to Life In Colors Studio, I struggled with the business name and the “Why” of creating art. This made it hard for me to stay consistent and motivated.

I am an oil painter. I create art that can be passed down from generation to generation.
I specialize in using portraits to embody unity, youth, and life. I am known for taking the word “colorism” and giving it a positive meaning- one of color, vibrancy, and acceptance. I am most proud of what my art does for the viewers and the community. I love that my work brings people and families together.
I do not allow the artwork to be motivated by financial gain. I simply enjoy serving my clients and knowing that my artwork had a part to play in their moments of joy.
