Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Jackson.
Hi Erica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself and how you got started.
I started in 2004 with just an idea. I knew I wanted to do a StagePlay about a Prodigal Daughter with a twist of the Wiz and I wanted to do a conference called Manifest. It was to be a conference about helping people become who God created them to be. The problem is I had no idea how to make either of them happen.
I could act and write but I lacked resources, self-esteem, and self-confidence. I decided to keep playing it safe and just acted and wrote skits at church for children, youth, and adults.
Fortunately, God placed people around me in these ministries that would help bring out what was already inside of me like Pastor Tony Woodard and Pastor Karren Todd. I learned how to coordinate services and my own programs. I was also put in a position to write more which helped hone in on my gift.
I learned I had to manifest what God put inside of me first. Fast forward to August 18, 2018, I launched my business Ephesians 6 Productions with Manifest Conference, and the following year, I did my StagePlay about the Prodigal Daughter and called it Detours.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I have actually been met with some detours. I would say my biggest struggles have been resources/money. The pandemic was a huge challenge because I couldn’t do my production or conference. Nevertheless, I never let the struggles stop me and I’m starting to see some results.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in stage plays, life coaching, and conferences; but I would say I am most known for my coaching and stage plays.
As a StagePlay Director, I would say what sets me apart is the message behind what I write and the manner in which I work with the cast. I write it but I give them the freedom to bring the character to life. I always say I only write the blueprint. I want them to take the blueprint and make it their own once they understand the character
My motto is “Everything attached to me wins. That means no matter what I’m doing… be it stage plays, conferences, Coaching, or speaking… if I win… YOU WIN TOO!!”
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Timid and a little shy. Growing up, I wasn’t the most popular, yet, I could still make friends easily. I did better hanging out in groups cause I didn’t want to be by myself.
My self-esteem was low as well as my self-confidence.
Surprisingly, I excelled in things like acting and writing so I would pretty gravitate to that area because it was comfortable and meant I didn’t have to step out of my comfort zone.
