Today we’d like to introduce you to Jourdan Redden.
Hi Jourdan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Wagoneer formed as a band in September of 2018 to write and perform rock and roll music that demonstrates a deep appreciation for the classics of the genre as well as a desire to experiment and push the genre forward with a grit, edge, and rawness that only comes from Memphis music.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As our Wagoneer has driven down the proverbial road, there have been some bumps. Momentum in a band is fragile and temperamental, and COVID-19 exposed this.
Dissatisfaction with the production process of our soon-t0-be-released music, a lack of shows, and low motivation in the face of the pandemic affected the band throughout 2020, but we’re back and riding a wave of momentum brought on by our recent video performance with Station 8 Productions (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-GU3kkdwSE). 2022 is looking bright for the band.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Wagoneer prides itself on making music using a familiar formula (a four piece rock and roll band) that expands and distorts perceptions of what rock and roll music is and what it can be in the future through compositional experimentation. The genre isn’t dead; it’s just been hibernating for a few years.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Invite influence from those close to you instead of simply relying on the pillars of whatever genre of music you’re into.
