The heart of our mission is to find the amazing souls that breathe life into our communities. In the recent weeks, we’ve had the privilege to connect with some incredible artists, creatives, entrepreneurs and rabble rousers and we can’t begin to express how impressed we are with the incredible group below.

During that time AC Wharton was mayor of Memphis TN and came out and told us thank you for our community service that was a great experience. Summer 2012 I signed a management deal with Trend Setters JD & Patrick featured on a couple tracks and did a small tristate tour. Spring 2017 my hit song RUN Up A Check was spinning on Memphis ,TN (2) largest hip hop & R&B stations Hot 107.1 FM and K97.1 FM . As of lately I have been mentoring a couple local artists trying to help them leave their mark in the music/ entertainment industry and build on my legacy also. Thank you. Read more>>

A transgender woman herself, Jenna’s vision for Mid-South Trans Nation was born from a deep need. She began by creating Trans Nation Social, a Facebook group meant to connect local trans individuals in safe and affirming ways. But as more people joined and more needs became visible, Jenna saw that this space needed to grow—beyond digital walls and into real-life action. Read more>>

I was like well that’s perfect lol so I worked and learned how to actually do cupcakes and cakes and everything I learned I taught my daughter. So many things we learned from TikTok university as we call it. But as time went on I enjoyed working for Kroger as well. Learned more things such as making cookies dipping strawberries candies anpple and so much more. Actually customizing cakes and cupcakes with pictures and different types of designs. However I didn’t let working interfere with my goals of working at home as well. Today were more advanced more have more clientele and now we’re ready to start shipping. Read more>>

Jazmon Malone

I’m Jazmon and I was a brand new nurse when I started Jazmon’s Jewels. Covid has just hit and I was restless and needed a creative outlet. Jewelry making became that outlet for me and I haven’t looked back yet. In my high school and college years my mom made jewelry and urged me to do the same to make extra money but at the time I literally had no interest in it. It’s hilarious to me because now you can rarely catch me without some kinda bead kit on my person. I’m always creating something and always thinking of what I can create next. Crafting and creating has become a huge part of my life now and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It adds a little light to your life on my opinion. Read more>>

In 2011, I was unexpectedly laid off from my job for two months after missing a mandatory training. It was a tough time—I was home without pay, trying to stay hopeful and keep my mind busy. One day, I decided to bake a strawberry shortcake for a friend’s birthday, just as a thoughtful gesture. I didn’t expect much from it, but the reaction was overwhelming. Everyone raved about the cake and asked where they could place an order. That single moment sparked something in me. Read more>>

When I married my husband, who serves active duty military, our life of moving every couple of years began. What could have felt like a challenge has actually been such a gift – it’s allowed me to work in many different states, mostly along the East Coast, and to collaborate with incredible vendors from all over the country. Each move, each couple, and each celebration has shaped my craft and refined my style into what it is today: capturing heartfelt moments. Read more>>
Kiersten Williams

I’m Kiersten Nicole Williams, a multidisciplinary artist, muralist, and creative consultant born and raised in Memphis, TN. Creativity has always been a natural part of who I am — I was that kid who saw stories in colors, made sculptures out of scraps, and could find beauty in the smallest details. That passion was nurtured at Overton High School for the Visual and Performing Arts, and while I initially pursued a more traditional path, earning a degree in Business Management from the University of Memphis, I eventually chose to follow what had always been in my soul: art. Eventually, I became more interested in doing makeup on other people rather than myself. I loved tailoring looks to different people’s styles, and being able to enhance the beauty that I could already see in everyone. It became the most validating aspect of my life. When I was 19, I booked my first ever wedding! From that point on, I was determined to turn what was a hobby into a fulfilling career. In 2023 I quit my corporate 9-5, and dived head first into being a full time Bridal + Event Makeup Artist! Read more>>

I moved to Memphis, TN, in 2006 with my husband and 2 boys. We added 2 more children to our family and my only daughter was born in 2007 with numerous medical issues and special needs. Let’s just say it’s been a wild ride! Starting Simply Pressed Creations came with its fair share of struggles—late nights, early mornings, growing pains, and plenty of emotional moments. One of the hardest parts has been taking the leap, leaving the comfort of my full time job, and strictly focusing on building Simply Pressed. Although I had no idea how expensive it was to start a business or the stress that comes along with it, day by day it gets easier through hard work and dedication. I am extremely proud of how much it has grown in such a short amount of time, but I could not be more excited to see what the future has in store for us. Read more>>

I started DJing in 7th grade at Graceland Jr. High 1984 in Memphis, Tennessee.. I was into basketball and made the varsity team that year.. I quit the team and tampered with Break Dancing and Rapping, but DJing was it for me. The Christmas of my 6th grade year, I put 2 turntables and a mixer on my list and my parents got it. The mixer was from Radio Shack and the turntables were from Service Merchandise. Of course it was entry level gear. Belt drive turntables and a mixer without a crossfader. By the time I had got to middle school I had been practicing everyday. Read more>>

Operating the business during the coronavirus pandemic was very challenging. This business is so valuable to me. We were forced to close our doors for two months. During that time, I worked every single day to offer pastries and cakes to our community— I worked tirelessly to promote, produce and deliver desserts to my clientele in Memphis. Even though the doors were shut, I kept my business going. I am so grateful to my customers and Memphis for supporting my little business during that time! Read more>>

When I was in my sophomore English class in college, we had to write a short story. When my professor returned my paper he said, “you are really good at this, you should consider doing this professionally.” I was very proud and grateful for his comments, but couldn’t imagine calling my mother to tell her I was changing my major from Biology/Pre-Med to English to pursue a career as a writer. It would not have gone well. Plus, I had decided when I was a sophomore in high school that I wanted to be a doctor and I could not just change my mind, right? Seriously, once you tell people you are going to be a doctor, that kinda becomes your identity. Read more>>

The idea for Petite Treats started over 5 years ago as I was preparing for a bake sale. I felt the urge to participate and felt the Lord guiding me to use the name Petite Treats. I have always loved to cook since I was a little girl, so it was almost second nature to develop a cooking/baking business. Since becoming serious about the business, I have worked with other professionals to help develop the branding and the business as a whole. Read more>>

Definitely not obstacle-free, but I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything. Transitioning from a long career in the medical field into a completely new industry came with a lot of challenges—financial risks, learning curves, and moments of doubt. Opening my own salon suite was exciting but also pushed me outside of my comfort zone in so many ways. There were times I had to figure things out as I went, especially when it comes to marketing and this whole social media thing, building clientele and gaining confidence in new services. But every challenge taught me something, I’ve grown so much as a business owner and esthetician. It hasn’t always been smooth, but it’s definitely been worth it. Read more>>

Antoine Taylor

I’m Antoine “Twon” Taylor, born and raised in Memphis, TN – 38109. I started Silverback BBQ & Catering back in 2021, but the passion for this game runs deeper. I learned how to cook from my mama, who held it down in the kitchen and passed down more than recipes — she passed down heart, hustle, and soul. She passed away on February 14, 2025, and since then, everything I do in this BBQ world is in her honor. At first, it was just about feeding the neighborhood – family, friends, folks who knew good food when they tasted it. But once people started lining up, I knew I had something real. In 2023, I got serious, locked in, and turned Silverback into a full-on grind while driving trucks full time.. Read more>>
Sandy Creek Farms

Sandy Creek Farms is located in the rural Springville area outside of Paris in Henry County, about an hour and a half East of Memphis. The farm currently consists of about 430 acres of rolling hills with pine and hardwood forests. Originally purchased in 2007 by Beth and Dave Morgan, Louisiana residents, who were captivated by the raw beauty of the land, the property began a transformation from wild to wonderful that continues today. Landscape and architectural interests directed the early development of the farm. A nursery and tree-growing fields provide material for horticultural transformation. Two lakes were constructed, roads were built, and environmentally sensitive structures were constructed. Read more>>

We began this journey with nothing but a vision and an empty shell—a space that quite literally had no floor or walls, no signs of a past, and no hints of the vibrant future we imagined. From this blank canvas, we built everything from the ground up, brick by brick, piece by piece, guided by a singular idea: to create a family-friendly environment where the echoes of laughter and the joy of play would form the very heart of the place. But the road wasn’t linear. While researching optometry school requirements, I saw Gross Anatomy on the list and thought, “There’s no way I’m working with cadavers!” I decided to pivot and earned a master’s degree in Health Administration from the University of North Texas Health Science Center.
