As someone who loves to create, I couldn’t just sit with that. So, I decided to make my own scrub. The first step was researching the ingredients in my favorite scrub. That’s when I learned something shocking: the ingredients were actually terrible for my skin. So, I dove deeper into researching better, more nourishing ingredients to use, and started experimenting with the right mix to create a scrub that not only felt luxurious but would last longer because the texture wasn’t runny. How I started modeling? I’ve been told by everyone my whole I should model, I know I didn’t want to be a the ideal, standard runway model. I love the concept of art, so I knew the type of shoots I wanted to create would be fun or inspire someone to do. I took a course, there is a photographer in Memphis, directedbyskin, she offered modeling courses. I believe the course was a month or two long and she helped with the typical things but the most important advice she gave was to always have confidence. I’ve always enjoyed media! Growing up, I considered myself to be the next Khadijah James of Living Single and living in New York and working for a publication. However, life isn’t an NBC sitcom and after getting my degree in journalism in the middle of covid, the traditional path just wasn’t it. After working in the communications and start-up industry, I decided to pick up a camera and be a tourist in my city. Living that “big city life” is possible in Memphis, you must be a pioneer and venture out into the unknown. I have a small following but I just love using my camera and capturing what’s going on.
